Building Boldly Unbounded from scratch has been a daily lesson in patience.

Any of you who know me have probably heard me joke, "I'm not a doctor because I don't have any patience." 😂

Building my own business is nothing like what I experienced building startups for nearly a decade. Before I started, I thought, "I'll be financially thriving within 12 months."

Nope.

Social media feeds us narratives of overnight successes and instant breakthroughs, the reality I'm living is vastly different.

True creation—the kind that ignites systemic change—happens in small, consistent steps over years, not months. Some mornings I wake up with big visions, most days I'm in the trenches of taking consistent action.

What keeps me going isn't some mythical entrepreneurial superpower, but the embodied leadership practices I'm sharing with you.

The story holding you back

I've heard this story from three different clients in the past month:

I'm constantly putting out fires, priorities keep shifting, and by the time I get home, I have zero energy for what actually matters to me. Sometimes I wonder: is all this stress really worth it? How can I move toward my vision when I'm barely getting by day-to-day?

Are you nodding your head? I imagine you are.

It's the pattern we often find ourselves in—appearing productive but feeling increasingly disconnected from what really matters.

How it shows up: the signals

Your body tightens—shoulders creep toward ears, jaw clenches, breath becomes shallow.

Sleep suffers as your mind races with uncompleted tasks at 3am.

You notice yourself procrastinating more, questioning decisions, and feeling overwhelmed when looking at your calendar.

The things that once energized you now feel like obligations, and you think, "I'm never going to [add your ambitious vision here]."

What's really happening

Your nervous system has shifted into the sympathetic state—the fight or flight response that evolved to handle immediate threats. Not chronic workplace and life demands.

This state prioritizes survival over creativity, connection, or vision.

And when you're in this state constantly? It exhausts your body's resources, making it physiologically impossible to access your full capacity.

What do you do?

The science of progress

Harvard research found the most important factor is making progress in meaningful work. It boosts emotions, motivation, and perception during your day.

The research revealed that when people experienced small wins daily, they reported more joy, warmth, and pride. Their intrinsic motivation grew. They perceived greater positive challenge in their work.

This is The Progress Principle—where tiny progress creates a recurring cycle. It triggers the positive emotions needed to stoke engagement and creativity, leading to more progress.

The limitation? When your body is stuck in fight or flight mode, it can't recognize the progress. Your biology blocks you from experiencing the very thing to stoke your momentum, and these benefits remain inaccessible.

The shift: center the body

Start with the body.

Before your conscious mind registered "stuckness," your body was already signaling dysregulation. The path forward begins with regulation, then recognition.
