Mid-morning sun streams through my bay window in Barcelona, casting light that brightens narrow Spanish streets.

I sit cross-legged on my well-loved, leather couch, witnessing how my body holds the inevitability of a move back to San Francisco. Though Barcelona and San Francisco will be home long-term, I feel the pull of this next chapter calling us to root for a time in the Bay Area.


My forehead clouds with thoughts of planning and timelines—finding an apartment, shipping our life across an ocean, rebuilding community—while my jaw holds the tension of wanting to control what cannot be controlled.

There's a heaviness in my chest, like a granite stone the size of my fist.

The weight of transitioning from our daily life in Spain dances with attachment to the present.

And gratitude swirls like wind around this stone of grief, lifting and holding both what's ending and what's becoming.

Yet, as I ground into the sunlight's hues, something shifts.

The planning mind's urgent whispers begin to soften.

A calm presence buds within, offering deeper wisdom: this journey isn't about perfect plans, but about trusting what emerges. About honoring the need for this move and the beauty of knowing we'll one day return.

How does gratitude move through you when embracing both endings and beginnings? What sensations arise when you align with your highest self versus when you grasp for control?

To begin, find a quiet space and settle into your body's natural rhythm.

Place one hand on your heart, connect to your breath—finding the breath that's right for you. Not too fast. Not too slow. Just the right amount of air. At just the right tempo.

Name your core values—pausing between each—to notice how they manifest in your body.

Is there expansion? Contraction? Warmth? Coolness? Energy? Heaviness? Nothing?

Move your hand to your solar plexus—your center of personal power.

Ask: "How is my energy today? In my menstrual cycle? In this season?"

Observe how your body responds. What physical sensations arise?

Return your hand to your heart.

Close your eyes and envision your highest self—the most bold, abundant, loving expression of you. Authenticity in its purest form.

Notice what sensations arise.

Perhaps glowing in your chest? Opening in your forehead?

Finally, holding awareness of your values, energy, and highest self together, ask: "What next step feels most aligned with all of these?"

The wisdom comes not from a single element, but from their integration—like instruments creating a song rather than playing alone.
